Pact Awarded for Design of Scripps Lab
Hope Consulting Group, San Diego and San Francisco, has been awarded a contract to design the $9.5-million, 58,000-square-foot extension to the molecular biology laboratory at Scripps Clinic and Research Foundation in La Jolla.
The extension to the original 140,000-square-foot building--which was designed by the Hope firm and was honored in 1983 by the Society of American Registered Architects--will house 16 new laboratories, according to Gerald J. Brewer, principal architect for the project.
“Our design concept is to enhance the existing structure with people-oriented exterior public areas and to tie the addition to the current building through continuity of exterior treatment,†Brewer said.
