Two young men were in critical condition Saturday after being struck by bullets fired from a passing car in Pomona. The two, and a third companion who was not injured, were fired upon as they rode a pickup truck home from a college dance.
In critical condition with head wounds at Pomona Valley Community Hospital were Hai Doan, 21, and Bang Dang, 19, both believed to be from the Ontario area. A companion, Hoa Bui, 18, was not injured.
Sgt. Bill Paterson of the sheriff’s homicide division said the shootings occurred about 1:30 a.m. Saturday near the campus of Cal Poly Pomona. The three were returning from a dance at nearby Mount San Antonio College in Walnut, where an argument of some kind had taken place between them and others, Paterson said.
No arrests have been made in the incident, Paterson said.
