THEATER BOOMS
Amazing! With more than 115 Equity Waiver theaters in greater Los Angeles, almost none of those represented in Barbara Isenberg’s two articles went beyond the same old tried and true boundaries of the Westside.
How did Isenberg subject herself to interview Barbara Beckley, general manager of the Colony Studio Theater? Wasn’t she afraid she might fall off the face of the earth venturing into (God forbid!) Silver Lake ?!
I (and many fellow theater lovers here on “the wrong side of the tracksâ€) would like Ms. I, The Times and its readers to know that the Westside does not have a monopoly on good little theaters in this city.
Besides the Colony Studio, there’s Olio, Nosotros, the Celebration, the Rapport, Deja Vu/5th Estate and many more. Hopefully in our lifetime, The Times will give Eastside theaters their fair space in its pages.
