Senior U.S. and Soviet military officers held an unannounced meeting last Friday, reportedly to discuss the killing of Army Maj. Arthur D. Nicholson Jr. by a Soviet sentry and ways to prevent similar incidents in the future. State Department spokesman Bernard Kalb had no comment on the session except to confirm that it took place.
