A chase involving a San Diego motorcycle police officer and a taxicab driver ended Wednesday morning when the suspect slammed into the center divider of Interstate 15, police said. Laurance J. Jackson, 22, of Chula Vista, was booked on suspicion of resisting and evading arrest, speeding and driving without a license. The chase, which at times reached 85 m.p.h., started on 30th Street, continued eastbound on California 94 and ended on Interstate 15 when Jackson lost control of his southbound car, police spokesman Bill Robinson said. Jackson was initially stopped for wearing stereo headphones, Robinson said. The officer became suspicious after discovering that Jackson’s permit to drive a cab was invalid and that he had no driver’s license, Robinson said. He said the suspect sped away when the officer started walking back toward his motorcycle to call on the radio.
