China Expecting Tourist Increase

PEKING — China is preparing for a ‘mini-invasion’ of more than 400,000 visitors this year, a government newspaper reports.
About 370,000 tourists from 100 countries visited China in 1984, often straining hotel and transport services that have been unable to keep pace since the country was opened to foreign tourism in 1978, according to China Daily.
