INGLEWOOD — The Atlantic Richfield Foundation has given a $25,000 grant to the Daniel Freeman Memorial Hospital Companion Program, which pairs senior citizens who need care with developmentally disabled people needing work experience to become more independent. The senior citizen usually provides room and board or meals for the companion in exchange for up to 20 hours of service per week.
The foundation selected the program because it “is very involved in self-help and at the same time shows great concern for the elderly and the disabled,” according to President Eugene R. Wilson.
