Residents who put bulky items out for a special trash pickup last week--and who can still see them sitting there--should not depair, according to city officials. Response to the special collection was so overwhelming that 35% of the city’s homes, about 1,800, were missed as 11 trucks picked up a total of 150 tons of refuse. The city’s trash collector has scheduled another special pickup Saturday for the remaining trash.

Two Palos Verdes Estates news items were inadvertently published under a Rancho Palos Verdes heading in the South Bay Digest on Feb. 28. The items reported a special trash pickup for bulky items, which took place on March 2, and City Council action authorizing participation for one year in Palos Verdes Transit, a dial-a-van transportation system.
