Matt Monroe
When I heard that Matt Monroe had passed away it saddened me and I couldn’t help but shed a tear.
A few years ago my son gave me Matt’s album, “From Russia with Love.†I played it continuously--I loved his phrasing and his beautiful voice. He was sensational!
From then on, come Mother’s Day and my birthday, I was sure to get one of his albums. At Christmas time it was one of his albums that was placed under the tree.
Now he is gone, but thank God I have a whole collection of his records and I will treasure them. After all, who can sing, “Roses and Roses,†“Alfie†and “Friendly Persuasion†as he did? No one.
