A Los Angeles City Housing Authority police officer pleaded not guilty to a charge of robbing a Pasadena self-service gasoline station of $200. Leander Charles Moore Jr., 44, recently promoted to sergeant, allegedly showed his badge and claimed to be on emergency police business to gain access to the cashier’s office of the station, then took the money and drove away. The attendant noted his car license number. Police Detective Jay D’Angelo said Moore then reported his car stolen. When officers visited Moore’s home to take his report, they allegedly found the camouflage jump suit worn in the robbery and discovered the checkbook and credit cards he claimed were stolen with his car. Moore has been suspended without pay by the CHA and is being held in lieu of $6,000 bail.
