Digest : Local News in Brief : Stepfather Gets Prison in Lewd-Conduct Case
A44-year-old Agoura man was sentenced Tuesday to three years in state prison after he pleaded guilty to one count of lewd conduct with his stepdaughter.
Thomas G. Burns, a former plumber originally charged with seven sex-related offenses, admitted molesting his stepdaughter over a two-year-period, starting when she was 13.
In an agreement with the district attorney’s office, Burns pleaded guilty to the lewd-conduct count in Superior Court in Van Nuys in exchange for the dropping of the other charges.
He surrendered to police in December, 1983.
Prosecutor Robert Cohen said the victim now lives with a maternal aunt and uncle in Northern California.
Burns will be eligible for parole after serving half his term, Cohen said.
