Pact Intended to Protect Great Lakes to Be Signed

MILWAUKEE — Representatives of eight states and two Canadian provinces will meet today to sign an agreement to “protect, conserve and manage†the Great Lakes’ water resources, an estimated one-fifth of the world’s fresh surface water, and resist efforts to divert that water to other areas.
