MCI Communications petitioned the FCC.

In its petition asking the commission to reconsider its award of the Los Angeles-area cellular franchise, MCI, which narrowly missed getting the franchise in December, claimed that the winner, Los Angeles Cellular Telephone Co., failed to disclose important facts to the commission. Specifically, MCI alleges that its competitor does not have the ability to serve the Palos Verdes peninsula as it claimed in its application. A Los Angeles Cellular spokesman denied the charge. PacTel Mobile Access holds the other license to serve the region.
