Long Beach Women Rout San Diego State

Cal State Long Beach guard Jackie White scored 22 points Tuesday night, including 20 in the first half, to lead the second-ranked 49ers to a 92-65 Western Collegiate Athletic Assn. win over San Diego State in front of 1,260 fans in Long Beach.

The 49ers, who lead the nation in scoring with a 90.9 points-per-game average, used their superior quickness to outrun the Aztecs on the way to their ninth consecutive win. Long Beach improved its record to 6-0 in the conference, 17-1 overall, while San Diego dropped to 4-3 and 15-6.

Sophomore center Cindy Brown added 18 points for the 49ers, who put the game away in the first half by building a 47-23 lead. Long Beach shot 61% in the first half (19 of 31) and 53% for the game (37 of 70).

San Diego State, which had trouble handling the 49ers’ half-court trap, shot just 36% (27 of 55). The Aztecs also committed 30 turnovers. Center Toni Wallace scored 14 points and guard Dee Dee Duncan added 12 for San Diego.
