Weber Beats Webb in Final
MIAMI — Pete Weber of St. Louis defeated top-seeded Wayne Webb, 216-187, to win the $150,000 Lite Beer tournament Saturday, his second Professional Bowlers Assn. title in three weeks.
Weber, 22, who won the Showboat Invitational at Las Vegas two weeks ago, defeated Steve Wunderlich, St. Louis, 232-145, and Brian Voss, Tacoma, Wash., 216-171, before eliminating Webb in the title match.
Wunderlich stopped Mark Williams, Beaumont, Tex., 193-171, in the opening game of the finals.
The victory earned Weber $27,000.
Weber averaged 221 for three matches, while his opponents had only a 168 average.
