National League Opens April 8 at Cincinnati

The National League will start its season in Cincinnati when the Reds host the Montreal Expos at Riverfront Stadium April 8.

The Reds home-opener, which signals the start of a new season, will begin at 2:05 p.m. EST.

Other NL teams will begin play April 9 with Montreal playing host to the final home-opener April 19 against the New York Mets. The game to be played at Olympic Stadium begins at 1:35 p.m. EST.

The National League champion San Diego Padres open their season April 9 at San Francisco against the Giants. The Padres first game at San Diego Jack Murphy Stadium is April 15 against San Francisco.

There will be four double headers in 1985 in the NL, with New York and San Diego each scheduled to host one and San Francisco two. In addition, Philadelphia and San Diego each scheduled a twi-night doubleheader and Cincinnati has two.

The NL has scheduled 606 night games this season, which concludes Oct. 6. The playoffs start Oct. 8.
