San Diego
San Diego police chased two suspected burglars about 15 miles early Friday morning before arresting the men and recovering 20 stolen fur coats valued at $19,000, a police official said. Marshal Porter, 29, and Robert Davis, 22, were arrested after their car crashed into a police patrol car on 28th Street near California 94, San Diego police public information officer Rick Carlson said. No one was injured in the accident. Police received a tip at 1:17 a.m. from a witness who reported seeing two men throw a brick through a window at the Signatures specialty clothing store on Prospect Street in La Jolla, Carlson said. The chase began when police saw a car in Pacific Beach that resembled the getaway car. About eight police cars were involved in the chase before it ended 20 minutes later near Logan Heights. Police recovered the furs and a .38-caliber revolver from the car. The store manager, who asked not to be identified, said some of the coats were of mink, fox, lamb, squirrel and rabbit fur.
