Baseball: No. 2 Harvard-Westlake needs 9 innings to win

Jack Flaherty of Harvard-Westlake struck out 12 and walked none in seven innings on Tuesday, but that wasn’t enough to defeat Sherman Oaks Notre Dame.

The game went nine innings before the Wolverines prevailed, 2-1. Joe Corrigan had a single, stole second, stole third and scored on a Brian Ginsberg sacrifice fly in the top of the ninth for the game winner. Alex Horowitz threw two shutout innings of relief. Harvard-Westlake is 21-3 and 7-2. JJ Muno had two hits for Notre Dame (13-10, 4-5).

Andy Frakes had three hits and four RBIs and allowed one unearned run in five innings as Crespi defeated Alemany, 9-1. Chaminade defeated St. Francis, 8-2. Darren Kriz and Nolan Bennett each drove in two runs.

In the Trinity League, Santa Margarita (14-10, 6-6) continued its climb in the standings with an 8-4 win over JSerra. Tony Bone had four RBIs, including a three-run home run. Casey Worden had three hits for JSerra. Santa Margarita is in third place. Servite defeated St. John Bosco, 7-1.

In the Century League, El Dorado stayed in first place, rallying from a 2-0 deficit with four runs in the seventh to defeat Esperanza, 4-2. Anaheim Canyon defeated Brea, 3-1. Mario Losi had three hits, Chad Prescott had a double and triple and Austin McGeorge struck out seven in six innings.

In the San Gabriel Valley League, Bryan Sedans threw a five-hitter to lead Paramount past Warren, 6-0.

In the Sierra League, South Hills defeated Ayala, 5-0. In the Channel League, Conner McManigal drove in five runs in Santa Barbara’s 12-9 win over San Marcos.

Beckman defeated Northwood, 1-0. Dylan Stablein threw a one-hitter, strking out three and walking none.

Buckley defeated Yeshiva, 8-0. Jarret Weiss threw a three-hitter.

Windward moved two games ahead with three to play in the Delphic League with a 12-7 win over Sierra Canyon, scoring seven runs in the top of the seventh.

In the Del Rey League, Bishop Amat defeated Cathedral, 8-2. Louie Moya and AJ Alcantara each had thre ehits. Scott Hurst had two doubles.

In the Pacific League, Crescenta Valley forced a four-way tie for first place after defeating Burbank, 4-1. Brian Gadsby threw a three-hitter. Austin Brines had a two-run double.

Baldwin Park defeated HH Wilson, 8-3. Bernardo Flores struck out eight in four innings. Baldwin Park is 19-5 and 8-3. Ben Fonseca had three hits and two RBIs. Northview defeated Nogales, 7-0, behind Niko Castaneda.
