Quarterback is the most important position in football, and Troy Williams of Narbonne and Robert Webber of Corona Centennial put on quite a show Saturday night at Cerritos College in the CIF Open Division regional bowl game won by the Huskies, 41-34.

Webber, a junior, passed for 317 yards and three touchdowns. Williams, who finishes classes on Friday and then heads to Washington, passed for 367 yards and four touchdowns and ran for 105 yards and one touchdown.

Williams hadn’t run much this season, with Narbonne protecting him from injury. But with the game and season on the line, he was unleashed, and what a performance he gave in the second half leading the Gauchos back from a 27-8 halftime deficit to tie the game, 34-34, with 1:09 left.

It was a fitting final performance for the two-time City Section player of the year whose legacy at Narbonne will be long remembered.

Centennial showed lots of grit and determination to pull out the victory, and next up is unbeaten Concord De La Salle on Saturday night at the Home Depot Center.

It will be a difficult challenge for the Huskies, but they sure know how to play hard.

Here’s the link to the schedule for this coming weekend’s bowl matchups. All five will be televised by Time Warner Cable.
