Every four years, the Southern Section goes through releaguing, and that means the start of the process for the changing of leagues in 2014 begins next week when the Southern Section office releases Area Placement for schools.

There are nine areas where schools are placed, and schools have to be put in a league within their Area Placement.

So, get ready for the biggest news of the week, and that is whether Ventura St. Bonaventure and Westlake Village Oaks Christian will leave the Northern area and be placed within the Catholic Athletic Assn. If that happens, no more Marmonte League for those two schools, which would launch a big celebration from the public schools in the Marmont League.

The betting is that the Southern Section will put St. Bonaventure and Oaks Christian in the CAA and let them try to figure out an appropriate league, but both schools certainly can appeal their placement. But I’m thinking that St. Bonaventure is headed to the Serra League in 2014 for football and Oaks Christian could join them.

Stay tuned. The fun is about to begin.
