Baseball: San Pedro rallies to win St. Paul tournament title

Down, 6-2, entering the bottom of the seventh, San Pedro scored five runs to defeat Simi Valley, 7-6, in the championship game of the St. Paul tournament.
Renae Martinez had three hits and Jacob Lechuga came through with the game-winning double for the Pirates, who are starting to play well and could be emerging as the Marine League title favorites. L.A. Cathedral went 3-1 in the tournament after a 7-5 win over El Rancho. Alan Trejo had a two-run double. Joshua Ibarra and Julian Perez had two hits apiece.
In the Foothill League, Hart took over sole possession of first place after an 11-10 victory over Saugus. Luke Persico and Baggio Saldivar had two hits apiece.
Canyon upset West Ranch, 4-3. Max Weinstein threw a complete game. Chris Serrano went three for four. Jagger Rusconi had two hits for West Ranch. Trey Williams, Brian Mundell and Lukas Foster each hit two-run home runs in Valencia’s 14-4 win over Golden Valley.
Justin Garza threw a four-hitter as Bonita (17-1, 5-0) defeated Diamond Bar, 5-0. Tyler Heslop had three hits.
Kirav Patel threw a one-hitter to lift Windward past Sierra Canyon, 2-0.
Jack Johnson threw a complete game with six strikeouts in Riverside North’s 10-1 win over Corona Santiago. Justin Gheorghe hit a three-run home run.
In the Valley Mission League, Alonzo Garcia (7-0) pitched San Fernando past Panorama, 16-0, in five innings. Kennedy defeated Reseda, 20-0, with Moises Ceja throwing a five-inning no-hitter.
Cleveland defeated Northridge Academy, 22-1. Derek Costin struck out 10 in five innings. For the third straight game, Jack Hartman hit a home run.
In Las Vegas, Oaks Christian fell to Bishop Gorman, 11-9. Phil Bickford (5-1) took his first loss, giving up 13 hits. Jack Kruger had a double and home run for the Lions. Nate Palace also homered. In Florida, Loyola was beaten by Tampa Jesuit, 3-2.
