Baseball: Poly gets East Valley League sweep of North Hollywood

Sun Valley Poly couldn’t have started East Valley League play with a better week. Phillip Marquez threw a shutout on Wednesday, 3-0. And on Friday, Daniel Acosta threw a complete game and added two hits in a 6-3 victory over North Hollywood, completing a two-game sweep of the Huskies. Poly is 5-6 overall.
Woodland Hills El Camino Real scored three runs in the top of the seventh inning on a passed ball, groundout and wild pitch to pull out a 3-2 win over Narbonne. Owen Perry (3-0) threw a complete game and escaped a bases loaded jam in the bottom of the seventh. He struck out five and walked none.
Taft won its fourth consecutive game, a 2-0 win over Marshall. Jake Hardy threw a three-hitter.
