Baseball: Moises Ceja throws two-hitter for Kennedy

Moises Ceja, a junior at Granada Hills Kennedy who pitched junior varsity last season, has emerged as a standout pitcher for the Golden Cougars. He struck out six, walked none and threw a two-hitter Thursday in a 7-0 win over Granada Hills.
Ceja is 2-1, and his only loss was in the opener to Valencia, 3-1, when the Golden Cougars made a couple of errors. Kenndy (5-3) scored six runs in the first inning. Jon Guerrero finished with three hits. In the second game of a doubleheader, Granada Hills (6-3) won, 6-2. Chris Mallon had a two-run home run for Kennedy.
In a South Coast League opener, Tesoro (7-2-1) defeated Capistrano Valley, 2-1, when the tie-breaking run scored on a wild pitch. Evan Cook allowed two hits in 6 2/3 innings. In the Baseline League, Alta Loma defeated Glendora, 4-2.
In a nonleague game, Cleveland defeated Roosevelt, 7-3. Peyton Long went three for three with three RBIs and also picked up the pitching victory.
