Girls’ basketball: Summit leads 27-24 at halftime

Jillian Alleyne has six points and Shantel Roberts has five points and six rebounds for No. 1-seeded Summit, which outscored Huntington Beach 16-8 in the second quarter to take a 27-24 halftime lead in the Southern Section Division 1A final at the Anaheim Convention Center.
Despite 12 of 33 shooting, including just 3 of 15 from three-point range, the Skyhawks have a decisive advantage in rebounding, 27-15, resulting in 10 second-chance points to zero for Huntington Beach.
Senior point guard Kelsey Minato has 15 points and five rebounds and Danielle Kennedy has scored six points for the third-seeded Oilers, who are 9 of 31 from the field and 4 of 13 from beyond the arc. There have already been five ties and four lead changes.
