Christian Lopes, a shortstop from Edison, agreed to an $800,000 signing bonus with the Toronto Blue Jays, well above the recommended bonus from the Commissioner’s office for a player selected in the seventh round.
He is highly regarded as a right-handed hitter and could play second base at the next level.
