La Puente Bishop Amat won the Southern Section Division 4 championship Friday night at Dodger Stadium with a 7-0 victory over Palm Desert, but looking at the bigger picture, the Lancers showed that they are the best team in Southern California for 2011.
They are 29-4, won the National Classic, played one of the toughest schedules in Southern California and performed as well as you could perform in a championship game.
From Rio Ruiz hitting a two-run home run to Jay Anderson contributing a two-run triple and to left-hander Daniel Zamora pitching 6 2/3 innings of shutout ball, this was a game to remember for the Lancers and Coach Andy Nieto.
