Mater Dei’s Kaleena Mosqueda-Lewis turned her right ankle on Monday during a quarterfinal at the Nike Tournament of Champions in Chandler, Ariz.
Mosqueda-Lewis, the top-ranked player in the nation in the 2011 class, rolled her ankle in the third quarter and was given crutches. The Monarchs went on to beat Louisville (Colo.) Monarch, 64-46.
It is questionable whether the Connecticut-bound guard will be able to play during the semifinal on Tuesday when Mater Dei, ranked No. 1 in the nation, will play No. 9 Long Beach Poly.
‘We will have to see how it swells up tonight,’ said Coach Kevin Kiernan.
