Eric Pettis is known at Woodland Hills El Camino Real as the pitcher who ended Chatsworth’s domination in the City Section championship game. He threw a two-hitter at Dodger Stadium in 2005 in helping the Conquistadores beat Chatsworth, 5-1.
He became a standout relief pitcher at UC Irvine, recording 34 saves. He also got action as a starting pitcher this past season but was only a 35th-round draft choice of the Phillies. Now he’s looking like a steal in his early days of the minor leagues.
He had a no-hitter going into the seventh inning Wednesday night and threw seven shutout innings. He’s 2-0 with an 0.53 ERA in three professional starts.
