Valencia West Ranch Coach Casey Burrill decided Friday he wasn’t going to let sophomore Trey Williams of Valencia beat his team at the plate no matter what situation.

So Burrill ordered an intentional walk for Williams in the fourth inning with the bases loaded to force across a run.

‘We promised ourselves if we got into a jam today, we’d walk him,’ Burrill said. ‘It didn’t feel good, but I liked the result.’

Williams ended up hitting his sixth home run against West Ranch in three games later in the day. West Ranch won, 8-4.
