Junior right-hander Ryan Cruz of Granada Hills Kennedy came through with the best pitching performance of his high school career Wednesday night at USC, retiring the final 12 batters in order while throwing a two-hitter to beat defending City Section champion Chatsworth, 3-0.
Cruz struck out eight and walked two. Chatsworth couldn’t even get a ball out of the infield in its final 12 at-bats.
Kennedy (3-3) got all the runs it needed in the first inning on RBI doubles by Chris Mallon and Robert Gonzalez.
