Manuel Perez delivered an RBI double in the eighth inning to lift Hueneme to a 3-2 season-opening victory over City Section power Chatsworth on Friday. Jesus Valdez struck out seven in six innings for Hueneme. Sean O’Connell hit a two-run home run for Chatsworth.

Alemany 4, Canyon Country Canyon 3: Sophomore Ryan Paramo allowed two runs in 5 1/3 innings. Edgar Montes hit a three-run home run.
Encino Crespi 10, Quartz Hill 2: Mike Hubbard went four for four and Kevin Williams hit a three-run home run for Crespi. John Kearns threw three shutout innings.
Simi Valley 15, Palmdale Knight 1: Denny Vigo hit a home run and Cody Ramer went three for five with three RBIs for Simi Valley.
Westlake 5, Newhall Hart 2: Chris Yelich had home run and double for Westlake.
Taft 10, L.A. University 0: Cody deSpain hit two-run home run and Art Chavez and Matt Smit combined on a six-inning two-hitter.
L.A. Cathedral 7, El Segundo 5: Jaime Figueroa had two doubles as Cathedral won in the debut of new coach Scott Pearson.
El Camino Real 13, Buena 6: Kyle Keppel had three hits and Mitch Bluman hit a three-run home run for the Conquistadores.
