Three boys’ basketball players who transferred from Arleta to Sylmar are under investigation by the school and City Section after questions about their eligibility were raised, according to City Section assistant commissioner Trent Cornelius.
Sylmar, the favorite to win the Valley Mission League, is tied for third place with a 2-2 record and has been holding out players while the City Section awaits additional information.
If any of the players are ruled ineligible, the Spartans would have to forfeit games in which the players participated.
UPDATE: Sylmar Coach Bort Escoto said that two of the players should return immediately and a third needs to clear up a paperwork issue.
