Baseball: Tryouts underway in Fullerton for under-16 national team

El Camino Real pitcher Jose Cordona and Valencia second baseman Timmy Lopes are among the 36 players vying for a spot on the under-16 national team during tryouts being held this week at Cal State Fullerton.
The coaching staff includes Chatsworth’s Tom Meusborn and Simi Valley Royal’s Danny Maye. The 18 players who make the final roster will travel Sunday to Taiwan to face Korea, Cuba, Taiwan, the Czech Republic and China. Meusborn is not expected to travel with the team abroad.
