Isaac Rosenthal, the co-editor-in-chief of the school newspaper at Venice High School and a former sports editor, has been selected the recipient of the Allan Malamud Scholarship presented by the Southern California Jewish Sports Hall of Fame.
The Malamud Scholarship honors the former sports editor of the Los Angeles Herald Examiner and former columnist for the Los Angeles Times who died in 1996.
Rosenthal will receive a grant of $1,000 to help him with his college education. He plans to enroll at Oregon this fall and major in journalism.
He will be presented his scholarship during the Southern California Jewish Sports Hall of Fame induction ceremony on Jan. 30, 2010 at the Skirball Cultural Center.
