Baseball: Arleta hands Verdugo Hills first league defeat

Sophomore pitcher Javy Lopez struck out eight and improved to 5-1 to help Arleta defeat first-place Verdugo Hills, 13-4, in an East Valley League game Thursday.

It was Verdugo Hills’ first league defeat after nine consecutive victories.

Arleta (14-7, 7-3) received a home run from sophomore Miguel Perez and two hits from Robert DeSantiago.
