If there’s a City Section team capable of beating eight-time champion Chatsworth, it had better be good, because the Chancellors are returning from Las Vegas playing as well as any school in the Southland.
On Wednesday night, they completed a 5-0 three-day trip to Vegas, knocking off Durango, 9-5, in the championship game of their bracket. Andy Weissberg had two doubles and Derek Neely and Shawn Meusborn added two hits apiece.
David Lira, Meusborn and Carlos Escobar Jr. combined to strike out 15 batters. Chatsworth is off until playing Reseda Cleveland on Tuesday in a West Valley League showdown for first place.
