Baseball: West Valley favorites get final tuneups

The West Valley League baseball race begins next week, and the three favorites all came away with impressive nonleague victories on Thursday.
Chatsworth defeated Granada Hills Kennedy, 4-1, at USC, with Carlos Escobar Jr. hitting a two-run home run.
Cleveland defeated San Fernando, 14-1, highlighted by a 10-run third inning that featured a three-run home run by Brady Moore and a grand slam by Robert Almendarez.
El Camino Real defeated Sylmar, 11-0, with sophomore Jose Cardona throwing a three-hitter and Michael Booth contributing four RBIs with a triple and double.
