What is a book?

With advances in digital technology, the old definition no longer applies, according to the first in a series on the future of reading by Times technology writers Alex Pham and David Sarno.

Now sound, animation and ability to connect to the Internet have created the notion of a living book that can establish an entirely new kind of relationships with readers, the article says.
