Here’s a quick download of news in the iPhone app-osphere this week.

Wham! Bam! Shazam! Mobile-music decipherer Shazam (which I swore was powered by magic when I first saw it while in line to buy the iPhone 3G) announced that, through new partnerships with record labels, its music database has grown to 8 million tracks, from 6 million. CNet

Rockin’ it: Pandora Radio has clearly struck a chord with iPhone users. Just as it surfaced among iTunes’ top free apps of 2008, the app hit the 2-million-downloads threshold Thursday morning. MarketWatch

Will the real 10,000th app please stand up? Reports of Apple’s App Store boasting a catalog of 10,000 apps may have been premature. Apple 2.0 pointed out that the tally by 148Apps didn’t account for the 325 applications dropped from the store. But AppShopper says that Adventoozle is really the 10,000th app currently available for download. AppShopper

Find your way to a free app: BloggerScott Kleinberg reports that JobCompass, an iPhone app that searches millions of jobs and locates them on a map, is giving away a free copy a day in December. The app usually goes for $3.99. iPTiB
