With forward Kyle Chipchura on injured reserve because of a concussion, the Ducks have recalled right wing Kyle Palmieri from the Syracuse Crunch, Anaheim’s primary development affiliate in the American Hockey League.
Palmieri, 19, has appeared in nine games for Syracuse this season and has seven goals and two assists. The New York state native, who played for Notre Dame, recorded his first career hat trick in a 5-4 loss to the Hamilton Bulldogs on Oct. 27 in Ontario, Canada. He was selected by Anaheim in the first round (26th overall) of the 2009 NHL entry draft and was signed to a three-year entry-level contract three months ago.
Palmieri also was a member of Team USA’s gold-medal-winning squad at the 2010 IIHF World Junior Championship and finished third on the team in scoring (one goal and eight assists in seven games).
