It wasn’t exciting, but it was effective.
Facing a Delaware State team that likes to slow the action down -- way down -- UCLA found enough time and space to build a 38-19 lead by halftime at Pauley Pavilion.
The Hornets simply could not generate much offense, shooting only 30%.
The Bruins, meanwhile, remained patient on defense and efficient at the other end of the floor, spreading the scoring around.
Freshmen Reeves Nelson and Tyler Honeycutt led the way with 9 points and 7 points, respectively. UCLA also held an 18-11 edge in rebounds.
