UPDATE: Nike says it has no endorsement deal with Vick.
Michael Vick received the marketing world’s ultimate pardon.
He agreed to an endorsement deal with Nike, according to the managing director of the agency that represents Vick, the Associated Press reported. The terms of the agreement have not yet been disclosed.
Vick had initially signed with the shoe company in 2001, but the company terminated his contract two years ago after he was indicted on dogfighting charges. Nike, which had called animal abuse ‘inhumane, abhorrent and unacceptable,’ apparently forgave the quarterback.
Nike declined to comment but Vick’s agent Joel Segal told reporters, ‘Mike has a long-standing, great relationship with Nike, and he looks forward to continuing that relationship.’
