The Dodgers announced tonight that they acquired White Sox slugger Jim Thome (who has 23 home runs and 74 RBIs so far this season) for a player to be named later, and pitcher Jon Garland from the Arizona Diamondbacks, also for a player to be named later.
It was quite a funny sight to see Garland (8-11, 4.29 ERA) grinning broadly in the Diamondbacks dugout at Dodger Stadium tonight after he was told he is now a Dodger. Garland, a graduate of Kennedy High School in Granada Hills who went on to help the White Sox win a World Series, was still smiling as he left the dugout.
