Sacha Baron Cohen, in character as Adm. Gen. Aladeen, has been making the media rounds to promote his upcoming movie, ‘The Dictator.’ And in keeping with the good-natured menacing tone of his creation, he’s been making veiled threats against his interviewers, namely Matt Lauer on ‘Today’ and Jon Stewart on ‘The Daily Show.’
Monday on ‘Today,’ Cohen-as-Aladeen started the interview asking Lauer about his wife, Annette.
‘What is she doing now?’ Aladeen asked.
‘Probably watching this interview,’ Lauer responded.
‘Incorrect!’ answered Aladeen, who then produced what was ostensibly a lock of Annette’s hair from his pocket.
Aladeen pulled a similar gag on Stewart, when he suddenly reassured the late-night host, ‘Don’t worry, your family is safe. They are having a great time! Your son is learning a lot.’
