For years, author, comedian and hospitality expert Amy Sedaris has been a late-night favorite, largely due to her willingness to perform outrageous antics on the air.
The streak continued on Tuesday’s ‘Late Night.’ Sedaris told host Jimmy Fallon how she’d always wanted to be in a commercial. After reaching out to various companies -- her dream was to plug ‘cramp medication’ -- Sedaris finally landed a job for a new product by Downy that claims to keep clothes smelling fresh for months at a time. ‘They got a letter from a seaman. His wife said it’s the only thing that makes him not smell like fish,’ she boasted.
Sedaris also showed Fallon a pair of pants, dubbed ‘The Weekender,’ that a publicist sent her. ‘I look so bad in these,’’ she promised, pulling the pants up below her skirt, designed with a snap closure for quick removal. Sedaris then unveiled her new look- - high-waisted, form-fitting underwear worn over what looked like yoga pants -- and performed a provocative dance that made Fallon and his house band, The Roots, blush.
Sedaris, diligent spokeswoman that she is, continued, ‘Let me tell you why these work. Because they have an inside pant, so you wear them all weekend. You don’t have to change your underpants. It’s all built in.’
The segment served as a cautionary tale to publicists everywhere: Be careful what you wish for.
