Jimmy Fallon will have to get his ya-ya’s out without the Rolling Stones

Jimmy Fallon is going to have a weeklong celebration with the Rolling Stones.

Actually, the Stones won’t be there, but it will still be a celebration. Right?

NBC put out a news release late Tuesday to announce that ‘Late Night With Jimmy Fallon’ will salute the Stones’ classic double LP ‘Exile in Main Street’ with shows in May timed to coincide with the album’s re-release.

‘I am a huge Rolling Stones fan and it is a dream come true to celebrate the re-release of the album here at ‘Late Night,’’ Fallon said in a statement.

But the dream would probably be sweeter were the Stones actually to, you know, appear on the show. Alas, that isn’t in the cards. Instead, an unspecified musical guest each night ‘will perform selected songs’ from the album.

The legendary rock band is ‘not scheduled to appear on (the) show,’ an NBC spokeswoman confirmed in response to an e-mail.

So, who will cover those songs? That hasn’t been firmed up, either. ‘Musical guests have not been announced yet for the week,’ the spokeswoman said.

So, no Stones and no word on either the guests or the tunes.

Hey, is it possible that Fallon himself might do the songs? We hear he does some wicked classic-rock impersonations.
