Doing more with less. American workers have been more productive, despite working fewer hours, and this has stopped companies from hiring new workers, the Washington Post reports.
More jobless. A report from a private payroll company shows that American companies cut 23,000 jobs in March. That monthly figure is the lowest in two years, but it is higher than what analysts had expected.
Citi’s score. New York’s business friendly mayor, Michael Bloomberg, is watching one of his top deputies head off to take a high level job at Citigroup. Edward Skyler, a deputy mayor, will work on government relations at the big bank.
Obama’s oil plan. Everyone is talking about oil as President Obama gets set on Wednesday to announce a new plan that will allow drilling for oil off parts of the East Coast but will maintain a ban off the California and Alaska coasts.
