Nicholas Brendon, the actor who played Xander in the ‘Buffy the Vampire Slayer’ TV series and now has a recurring role on ‘Criminal Minds,’ has checked himself into a Malibu rehab, RadarOnline reports.

Radar’s source says the actor blames alcohol and a sleeping pill for behavior in March that resulted in his arrest on suspicion of felony vandalism, noting that Brendon says he was blacked out and doesn’t remember anything that happened with police except for when they hit him twice with a Taser.

Brendon, who was arraigned April 7, now faces four misdemeanor counts, according to TMZ: one count of resisting arrest, two counts of battery against a police officer and one count of vandalism. If convicted, he could face up to two years in jail and $4,000 in fines, the website said.

“I was in treatment in 2005 and unfortunately I had a relapse,’ Brendon told Radar’s source. ‘In the back of my mind, I always knew I had a problem but it became clear to me when I got arrested.’

Brendon can be seen Wednesday on the ‘Exit Wounds’ episode of CBS’ ‘Criminal Minds.’ He’s also slated to appear in October as a guest at Whedon Fest, a conference in Toronto celebrating the shows of Joss Whedon.
