A photo posted to Facebook of a man reuniting with his impounded dog has resulted in an outpouring of support.
Dave Thomas was separated from his dog, Buzz Lightyear, when he was arrested in San Bernardino. He had $6 in his pocket, far from the $400 required to get Buzz out of the pound.
But the photo went viral and donations poured in help to get Thomas and Buzz back together. As of Tuesday evening more than $2,000 had been raised and Thomas even got one marriage proposal.
“I’ll give him a bag of Cheetos, because he loves his Cheetos. Take him to the park and let him chase some squirrels. Let him have his freedom,†Thomas said.
Buzz has been neutered by animal control and Thomas could pick him up as early as Wednesday.
The San Bernardino Sun reported that Thomas was arrested on suspicion of possessing drugs for sale. Thomas told the paper he was arrested for failing to show up to court for speeding tickets.
