Herman Cain, author of the audaciously titled autobiography ‘This Is Herman Cain: My Journey to the White House’ is climbing the Amazon charts. By early afternoon Wednesday, he had reached No. 9 on Amazon’s bestseller list.
The conservative Republican pulled a surprise victory in late September in a Florida straw poll and has been gaining momentum ever since. The Associated Press reports:
In his memoir, Cain looks back to growing up during segregation in the South and ahead to his hoped-for ascendance to the White House. The former head of Godfather’s Pizza has been widely regarded as a longshot for the nomination, but is now among the GOP leaders in new surveys from North Carolina, West Virginia and Nebraska. The field remains unsettled amid doubts about former Massachusetts Gov. Mitt Romney and Texas Gov. Rick Perry, the presumed front-runners. Republican officials had urged New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie to enter the race, but he announced Tuesday he wasn’t running.
Back in June, Cain’s book ‘They Think You’re Stupid: Why Democrats Lost Your Vote and What Republicans Must Do to Keep It,’ published in 2005, was trailing books from Republican contenders Mitt Romney and Ron Paul, and also behind possible candidate Sarah Palin’s, but he was ahead of two others. Since then, Tim Pawlenty has dropped out of the race, but Newt Gingrich is still in the mix.
With his new book, Cain pulls ahead in the book race. ‘Herman Cain: My Journey to the White House’ was published this week by Threshold Editions, the conservative imprint at Simon & Schuster. Other books from Threshold include Dick Cheney’s ‘In My Time’ and a number of books by Glenn Beck.
